Israel Matz
Israel Matz (Hebrew:ישראל מץ) was born in Kalvarija, Lithuania in 1869,〔Israel Matz, 1948:"My Home Town, Kalvarija (Lithuania)", ''LITA Yizkor book, 1951'', 1499-1512, translation by Gloria Berkenstat Freund available online ()〕 and died in New York in 1950.
Matz is well known for founding the Ex-Lax company in 1906, today owned by Novartis. His grandson, Roy M. Goodman, was a New York state Senator from 1969–2002.
